Still studying…

I’m experimenting with different mediums on this one. Watercolor was used for the circle background and colored pencils for the eyes. Neither of them were to my liking, so this drawing will probably only work as a value study. Moving on…

Sky Brood

Here is the last of these nocturnal creatures I’ll be doing. The eyes have been so much fun to work on. I used a combination of 6 colors in this one. The challenge is finding colors that complement each other well. Here I went from a blue to purple, to pink, and finally to a cream color. I haven’t really been focusing so much on the creature design aspect so much, so it ended up just looking like a plain ol’ barn owl. And now, looking at it, I noticed I lost some of the puffiness of the lil guy from the block-in to the final. Oh well. Anyway, before I even started this one, I had already imagined the next series I will be doing. Stay tuned for those. Feel free to ask me questions about my process.

Desert Son

This one transformed pretty heavily. From the beginning, I knew I wanted this creature to belong to the desert so I had to take a break after the line drawing to figure it out. I kinda blacked out after that haha. I got one more creature for this series that I been trying to get out of my head. We’ll see how that goes.

Colt Studies

Some studies I did for the design in the last post…

Colt Studies

I’m a strong believer in studies. I like to really get into my projects and doing research is vital. As you can see, the 3rd gun is the one that made the cut. I just think the overall design is a lot more interesting and different than what your used to seeing in other revolver drawings.
